Pearl’s Cafe in Bernard, Iowa

We celebrated St. Patrick’s day with a grand breakfast at Pearl’s Cafe in Bernard, Iowa.   It is a small cafe located a few buildings down from the Bernard Post Office.

We were greeted by everyone when we walked in the door.   There was a great deal of laughter, especially when we were told that the “specials” were pancakes or omletes – not.   Breakfast is simple  – eggs and meat and toast.  You can get the eggs cooked any way except as an omelete, and you have a choice of ham, bacon or sausage.   The ham slice is large, the eggs are fresh and the jam and jelly for the toast are home made.

Carol Shanahan (owner) is great!

If you are in the neighborhood, stop in and say hi and enjoy a meal.

Bernard, Iowa was the home of Arthur Geisert for a while.  Mr. Geisert is an artist and has published many childrens’ books.   He left some of his art at Pearl’s – check out the sidewalk.
