Valentine’s Day

In my life as an unemployed – job hunting recent graduate, the days are not always distinguishable from one to the other.  However, when I woke up this morning – I realized it was Tuesday and not just any Tuesday, but it is Valentine’s day!  Is it to celebrate one of the Christian St. Valentines or is it the remnants of ancient pagan celebrations? Interested in more details – check out the history.com – http://www.history.com/topics/valentines-day.

Alas – my love and I do not celebrate the day by giving each other cards and flowers, mainly, we do not celebrate it.  Valentine’s day in this day is just another marketing wonder.  We do try to bring romance and respect to every day.  Kind words, unexpected deeds (doing dinner dishes even though you cooked dinner) are what we strive for.   We may not succeed every day – wouldn’t that be boring.  A bit of whimsy, something unexpected makes life interesting.

So my advice for future Valentine’s days – forget the cards and flowers – cook dinner and have a picnic on the living room floor.   Make the bed (even if you weren’t the last out of it).  Smile and listen to your loved one’s stories.  Your stories will keep for another day!

Onward in the search for adventure . . .

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength,
while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
